Bill | Food in Five

Going full-time as a creator, powered by Clubb.

From content on the side to full-time creator, backed by 2,500 paying subscribers.

The short version

Bill had a huge audience and a day job. One of those things had to go. He launched his Recipe Portal on Clubb, built it to 2,500 paying subscribers, and the recurring revenue was enough to make content his actual job.

Who Bill is

Bill runs @foodinfivemins - 1M+ followers on Instagram, 2M+ across platforms. His thing is quick, high-protein recipes that people actually want to cook on a Tuesday night. Spicy rice, buffalo chicken burritos, frittata pockets, meal-prep stuff that works.

His audience is serious about food and serious about protein. They ask for recipes every day. What they wanted was a proper home for them - shopping lists, adjustable portions, macros sorted.

The income problem

A million followers sounds like it should equal a full-time job. For a lot of creators, it doesn't.

Brand deals come and go. Ad revenue is unpredictable. eBook launches are spiky - big month, then nothing. You can stack them up and do fine on paper, but the shape of the income makes it hard to leave a day job. Bills are monthly. Brand deals are monthly if you're lucky.

What Bill needed wasn't more followers. It was a more predictable kind of money.

What he built

Bill launched the Food In Five Recipe Portal on Clubb. 100+ high-protein recipes, videos linked to each one, adjustable portions, checkbox shopping lists that split by supermarket aisle. New recipes every week. Categories for meal prep, >50g protein, <500 calories, family cooking.

7-day free trial so his audience could try it before paying.

It's not a PDF. It's not a Notion database. It's a proper app with his branding, his tone, his content - the kind of thing his audience will pay for every month because it's useful every week, not just at launch.

Why it worked

Bill had something his audience would pay for every month, not just once. Quick, high-protein recipes, sorted, with the shopping list already done. The kind of thing you open on a Sunday to plan the week.

Clubb gave him the infrastructure to charge for it properly. App, payments, subscribers, content delivery, free trials, all of it. He focused on the food. We handled the rest.

The takeaway

A big audience isn't the same as a full-time income. The thing that turns one into the other is recurring revenue - subscribers who pay you every month because they're getting something worth paying for every month.

If you've got the audience and you've got the content, the missing piece is usually the product. Build the product properly and the shape of your income changes.
